SpiceJet has now been given the green light to start operations to the US like their flag carrier Air India but there is no date for when these services will commence. SpiceJet is a low cost carrier which is based in India and has been very busy with completing many repatriation and cargo flights during this pandemic.

Their managing director, Ajay Singh, said “It gives me immense pleasure to share that SpiceJet has been designated as an Indian scheduled carrier to operate between India and the US. I have always maintained that there is an opportunity in every adversity, and the present crisis has seen Spicejet rise to the occasion and play a pivotal role. They’re hopeful that this initial expansion will pave the way for them opening new international destinations, with rumors about them potentially wet leasing a A330 to complete these operations. They are already thought to have one with Oman Air and getting another one would help them make their dream a reality but many a questioning one not invest in the more newer and modern aircraft to complete this route, such as the 787 which has already been used in the region by other airlines.
